The Pikes Peak Mycological Society (PPMS) was founded in 1975 for the purpose of identification and study of mushrooms. PPMS is an affiliate member of the North American Mycological Society (NAMA). Club members have the option of joining NAMA individually at a discount.

Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month from April through September to provide an opportunity to socialize and exchange information. All general club meetings are open to visitors. Members and visitors are encouraged to bring specimens of mushrooms they have found for display and identification. The highlight of each meeting consists of a program designed to promote understanding and knowledge of mycology and related areas. The programs are conducted by an outside specialist or a knowledgeable member.

An extensive library of books for mushroom identification, cookbooks and newsletters from various Mycological Societies are available to members at no charge.

The Pikes Peak Mycological Society publishes a monthly newsletter from April through September providing members with valuable information such as timely articles of interest and gourmet recipes for the preparation of mushrooms.

Forays are organized in the spring and summer when fungi are fruiting. In order to participate in a foray a member must have paid the membership dues and sign or have a signed liability waiver on file.

Membership in PPMS entitles one to participate in all club activities, receive the newsletter, check out books from the library and be a part of forays during mushroom season.
